Future-Proof Buildings
-sharing what works-
This webinar series contributes to the GlobalABC vision that in a future-proof world all buildings, old and new, are zero-emission, efficient and resilient. To achieve international ambition to stay below 1.5 degrees of warming, this series seeks to provide a space for best-practice exchange connecting governments, private sector and organisations to drive the transformation.
Through a moderated panel format, this webinar series will present various topics related to the transition to a sustainable buildings and construction sector. It will provide case studies, success stories, and information on innovations, advancements, challenges, and solutions available to drive the transformation, linked but not limited to the five GlobalABC Work Areas:
Awareness raising and education
Public Policies
Market Transformation
Finance
Building measurement, data, and information
|01| Science-based Targets Driving the Transition to Sustainable Buildings
Science-based targets provide companies with a clearly defined pathway aligned with the Paris
Agreement goals by specifying how much and how quickly they need to reduce their greenhouse gas
emissions.
More than 550 companies with trillions of dollars in revenue, including several property, construction,
cement and steel firms have now joined the Science Based Targets initiative, aligning their emission
reductions with the Paris Agreement.
This webinar will address questions like: How do Science-Based Targets advance a zero-emission,
efficient, and resilient buildings and construction sector? What is the private sector’s role in aligning
ambition and action along the whole value chain to achieve future-proof buildings? How can partnership
between government and companies accelerate action on Paris Agreement targets? What are
GlobalABC members contributions to and activities in science-based targets?
